چکیده
Nick Talbot is Professor of Molecular Genetics at the University of Exeter, UK. He received his PhD at the University of East Anglia (UEA) and the John Innes Centre, and then carried out postdoctoral research at Purdue University in the USA. Nick moved to the University of Exeter as a Lecturer in 1993. His research is concerned with understanding the biology of rice blast disease, one of the most devastating diseases of cultivated rice worldwide. Nick is an ERC Advanced Investigator and was elected a member of EMBO in 2013 and a Fellow of the Royal Society in 2014.

متن کاملOrganic Contribution on Particles Formed on Pacific Ocean: From Phytoplankton Blooms to Climate
These SOAP project Pacific Ocean measurements reveal that phytoplankton blooms with sunny conditions make possible secondary organic contribution to ultrafine particles size and composition, and thus on cloud formation ability, and finally on climate. This is in agreement with other biologically active region observations about the presence of secondary organics even the exact fraction is also ...
متن کاملA hybrid machine model of rice blast fungus, Magnaporthe grisea.
The fungus, Magnaporthe grisea (Rice blast fungus) is a major agricultural problem affecting rice and related food crops. The way that the fungus invades the host plant and propagates itself is a very important scientific problem and recent advances in research into the genetic basis of these processes can be used to build a simple partial model using hybrid computational modelling techniques. ...
متن کاملNonlinear Talbot effect.
We propose and experimentally demonstrate the nonlinear Talbot effect from nonlinear photonic crystals. The nonlinear Talbot effect results from self-imaging of the generated periodic intensity pattern at the output surface of the crystal. To illustrate the effect, we experimentally observed second-harmonic Talbot self-imaging from 1D and 2D periodically poled LiTaO(3) crystals. Both integer an...
متن کاملAn electron Talbot interferometer
The Talbot effect [1], in which a wave imprinted with transverse periodicity reconstructs itself at regular intervals, is a diffraction phenomenon that occurs in many physical systems. Here we present the first observation of the Talbot effect for electron de Broglie waves behind a nanofabricated transmission grating. This was thought to be difficult because of Coulomb interactions between elec...
